The Montego Bay Marine Park is a park in the vein of Yosemite National Park or the Great Barrier Reef, in that our duties entail protecting and managing natural resources. We do this through scientific monitoring of the bay, interpretive enforcement of park regulations, and community outreach programmes. The Montego Bay Marine Park is not a theme park. There are no entry fees, and the park is free to use for all who come. Our shores are always open.

A Marine Park is an area of coastal waters with geographical boundaries that has been declared of such ecological importance as to deserve protection under national law. Regulations describe activities which may or may not be allowed within its boundaries so as to protect the habitats and the species therein.

The Montego Bay Marine Park Trust is a not-for-profit, Non-Governmental Organization responsible for the Management of the Montego Bay Marine Park. Founded by Friends of the Marine Park in Montego Bay, the Trust finances the Park's programmes through donations, merchandising, fundraising and event-planning.
