The Montego Bay Marine Park Trust was established in 1991 as a non-profit, limited liability company. The Trust is an environmental Non-Governmental Organization, with an elected board of directors and a membership organization (Friends of the Park).

The Trust holds Annual General Meetings every February to evaluate the previous year's accomplishments, set new objectives, confirm Audited Financial statements, and elect a new board. The Trust's current Board of Directors is represented by:

As the local steward of the Montego Bay Marine Park, the Trust maintains cooperative arrangements with government agencies such as the the National Environment and Planning Authority (NEPA), the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Division, and the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). It is under the auspices of arrangements made with these institutions that the Trust maintains its park management role.
